Rangers Find the Long Ball in win over Seattle

The Texas Rangers offense exploded with 4 home runs, and a strong performance from Cole Hamels, which allowed for the team to pull within 1 game of the AL West leading Houston Astros.

The offensive explosion began with 1B Mitch Moreland hitting a solo home run in the second, followed by a 3 run shot by Shin-Soo Choo in the third, and then a 2 run shot by Rougned Odor in the fourth and a solo shot in the sixth by Joey Gallo.

LF Joey Gallo hits a solo home run in the sixth.

Pitcher Cole Hamels did have a scare in the third when Jesus Sucre hit a line drive up the middle that bounced off his glove and hit him. “I was lucky it hit the muscle I have on my body,” Hamels said. “It absorbed everything. I’ll have a nice bruise for a couple of days.”

Hamels is now 3-1 as a Ranger and Pitcher Shawn Tolleson was able to earn his 31st save.

Tomorrow: The Texas Rangers play their 3rd game of a 4 game series in Seattle with Martin Perez pitching against the Mariners Vidal Nuno.
